The WWE network is easily one of the greatest debuts of all time for many reasons: It allows wrestling fans (young and curious and old and reminiscent) to watch classic wrestling in the 80s and so on, it allows fans to watch previously hard to achieve footage from WCW and ECW, it allows fans without cable to still watch wrestling, and it allows fans to watch PPVs for an affordable price.
The WWE Network is like netflix for WWE with original programming and shows, as well as wrestling matches and clips from the distant past all the way to the most recent Pay Per View (PPV). Even if you’re unsatisfied with WWE’s current product and want everything to return to the old days and how it used to be, WWE Network can be for you. If you like current WWE, then WWE Network can be for you. If you like both past and present, other promotions such as ECW and WCW and NWA, then WWE Network can be for you.
And no I’m not marketing it or shilling how great it is, I’m just pointing out the versatility of the network and the diverse group of fans it can satisfy. When revealed it was a big deal. the ushering in of a new era (at least off screen) in WWE and its impact on years to come can be and likely will be immense. A central network, a channel dedicated almost solely to WWE (and thus WCW and ECW and NWA) wrestling is a big step for wrestling fans and the wrestling business in general.
This is why the WWE Network is the #3 debut of the 2010’s era: for the future it will affect, the change it has brought (and will bring), and the overall utility it possesses.
